Fortunes to Charity
Charities and other nonprofit organizations may see a boost in overall giving thanks to The Giving Pledge, an effort spearheaded by Warren Buffett and Bill Gates to encourage fellow billionaires to give away their fortunes. Forty of the wealthiest people in the US have signed the pledge, including Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, film director George Lucas, and media mogul Ted Turner. By signing the list, which is available to the public online, the billionaires agree to give away more than half their wealth to support charitable organizations.
